Half way between New York and Philadelphia, amid rolling hills and miles of fenced pastures, sits an equestrian mecca, the “Little Lexington” of New Jersey - Hunterdon County - Where horses are integral to the county’s heritage, identity and economy. Horse farms abound and provide a profound visual effect in defining this community’s rural charm and ambiance. One can escape the hustle and bustle of life here and find peace and solitude in the mountain views, forests, lakes, and bridal paths. First put on the international map for being home to such famous Olympic equestrians as George Morris, Nona Garson, Anne Kursinski and Frank Chapot, Hunterdon County has a vibrant and diverse equestrian industry.
A multitude of activities such as polo, show jumping, dressage, carriage driving, fox hunting, trail riding, breeding and racing are all available for ones choosing. We are also bordered by two large Horse Parks, Far Hills Steeplechase, and the USET Olympic Equestrian Center. Many new residents note that the availability of equine activities, its support industries, and wide open spaces created by horse farms as key reasons they located here. One of our most cherished and valuable resources are the hundreds of acres of equestrian trails throughout the county. These precious trails draw equestrians to our area, help maintain our open space, provide hours of positive outdoor entertainment and exercise for our children and add value to our real estate and economy. Formalized trail associations include: the Tewksbury Trail Association, Alexandria Trail Association, Pittstown Trail Association, Covered Bridge Trail Association, Amwell Trail Association, and Readington Trail Association.
The Newark International Airport is a 45 minute drive, and the New York La Guardia Airport is a little more than 1 hour drive. Assess to anywhere in the world is only a short drive away.
